BREAKING. Downton Abbey coming to BBC Entertainment from 19 February for a mesmerising first season of superb British drama.
You're reading it here first.
Simply sumptuous. I can exclusivey break the news that the sterling British period drama Downton Abbey is coming to BBC Entertainment (DStv 120) from February, with the first season of this award-winning and critically acclaimed new drama set to start on BBC Entertainment on Sunday 19 February at 20:30.
The first season of Downton Abbey has 7 hour long episodes and is set just before the start of World War I in the late Edwardian era. The excellent and beautiful drama revolves around the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family but also their servants - and the trials and tribulations encountered by both ''classes'' as Britain heads towards the beginning of the Great War.
Downton Abbey is simply superb regarding the dramatic going-on in the mansion, the interplay between the aristocrats sipping champagne and those bringing it to them, affairs, schemes and unexpected guests stirring up trouble. Imagine Dynasty set at the turn of the previous century but with actors like the magnificent Maggie Smith and a budget of £1 million per episode.
Downton Abbey's second season just started, with a third that will start in Britain and America in September this year.
Look (and listen!) to this beautiful ITV promo of Downton Abbey shown just before the drama started in Britain to get a sense of the magnificence that's Downton Abbey.
