BREAKING. MasterChef South Africa winner will get R8 million - and your very own restaurant.
Here's something to chew on: The winner of the first season of MasterChef South Africa on M-Net will win over R8 million in prizes including ... your own restaurant.
MasterChef South Africa - a local version of the international show pitting amateur foodies against each other and the clock - will start on 20 March at 19:30 on M-Net, for 18 episodes and a finale of 90 minutes.
Produced by Curious Pictures and Lucky Bean Media, the auditions kick off tomorrow, Saturday, in Johannesburg, followed by Cape Town next week. The winner of MasterChef South Africa will get a car of R190 000, R25 000 in cash, a culinary trip to Italy, a sommelier course, a cellarmaster master class, and their own restaurant.
M-Net announced the prize package late today. ''The international versions of the series created a big buzz and subsequently the response to MasterChef South Africa has been overwhelming,'' says Pierre Cloete, M-Net's channel head in a press release.
More than 10 000 pre-entries have so far been received and potential contestants are still welcome to pitch up tomorrow in Johannesburg and later in other cities for the nationwide audition process.
