TOLDJA! Studio Universal movie channel added to MultiChoice's DStv Premium and DStv Compact on channel 119 in 47 African countries.


The news that TV with Thinus broke in May exclusively RIGHT HERE and then again exclusively broke in the week RIGHT HERE just became official: the new movie channel Studio Universal will be launching on MultiChoice's DStv Premium and DStv Compact in 47 African countries from October, exactly as I said, on channel 119.

''Universal Networks International and MultiChoice today announced that Universal Networks International's movie channel Studio Universal will launch on the DStv platform on 30 September reaching 47 countries across Africa,'' Universal Networks International says in a press statement.

''Studio Universal, which will be available on the DStv Premium and DStv Compact bouquets on DStv Channel 119, will offer viewers a host of blockbuster action and comedy movies, in addition to a range of themed film nights.''

"Given Universal Networks International's successful collaboration with DStv via Universal Channel, it is natural that we extend our relationship to encompass a movie channel dedicated to the best of recent Hollywood movies,'' says Colin McLeod, managing director of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) emerging markets for Universal Networks International.

''The Studio Universal brand capitalizes on its strong heritage via Universal Pictures International (UPI) – which has been producing movies for nearly a century. We are sure DStv subscribers will love this new channel that combines top films from UPI and other studios,'' says Colin McLeod.

''Studio Universal will launch at 19:00 (South African time on Friday, 30 September, with a line-up of well-known and successful blockbusters from the Universal Pictures catalogue such as the thrilling The Fast and the Furious starring Vin Diesel, the action-packed Miami Vice with Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell and the hit romantic comedy Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason starring the incomparable Renee Zellweger.''
