BREAKING. BBC Worldwide set to announce that it's going to launch a brand-new natural history TV channel, BBC Earth.

BBC Worldwide that runs the channels like BBC Entertainment (DStv 120), BBC Lifestyle (DStv 180) and BBC Knowledge (DStv 251) on MultiChoice in South Africa as well as elsewhere in the world is set to announce a brand-new natural history channel, titled BBC Earth later today.

BBC Worldwide will announce later today that it plans to launch BBC Earth as a stand-alone TV channel after highly successful blocks of ''BBC Earth'' programming on the BBC Knowledge channel. The creation of the new BBC Earth channel means that a new potential international TV channel will become available for possible inclusion on the pay TV platforms of MultiChoice that's already the home of these 3 BBC Worldwide channels and BBC World News, or On Digital Media's (ODM) TopTV platform that carries BBC World News as well.

BBC Earth will instantly become competition for Discovery and National Geographic who run similar natural history TV channels. BBC Worldwide that runs the BBC HD channel, not seen in South Africa (yet), will also announce that it plans to roll out that premium high definition channel in several more countries soon.
