BREAKING. kykNET fined R15 000 for broadcasting a movie with sex scenes during family hour and giving the wrong age restriction advisory.

kykNET (DStv 111) has been fined R15 000 by the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA) for broadcasting an age-restricted movie with sex scenes during family time and also giving the wrong age restriction.

According to the BCCSA, kykNET broadcasting the movie Hond se Dinges is the 3rd time in two years that kykNET has blatantly contravened broadcastign regulations. '' In the BCCSA judgement just released thecommission says ''after the first contravention the broadcaster promised that a contravention like this will not happen again. The broadcaster was then only reprimanded. To ensure that the broadcaster takes the necessary steps to avoid a similar contravention in future, the Tribunal has decided to impose a fine of R15 000."

kykNET not only broadcast Hond se Dinges at 19:30 during primetime family viewing but also gave the wrong age restriction. Hond se Dinges has an age restriction of 16NS and features sex scenes, although kykNET gave a parental advisory of only 13PG indicating that only ''parental guidance'' is necessary.

kykNET admits that the TV channel has made mistakes in both scheduling Hond se Dinges at the incorrect timeslot during family viewing, and also providing the incorrect age restriction advisory.
