BREAKING. Andrew Barnes will be the eNews Channel's royal correspondent; will cover the Royal Wedding week from London.

You're reading it here first.

I can exclusively break the news that the eNews Channel (DStv 403) is sending its veteran TV reporter and senior anchor of its weekday afternoon News Day slot, Andrew Barnes to Britain to cover the Royal Wedding for a whole week as the channel's royal correspondent.

From London Andrew Barnes will be doing comprehensive coverage for the eNews Channel as well as eNews on e.tv in the week leading up to the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton on Friday 29 April.

While 750 million people worldwide watched the wedding 30 years ago this coming July of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, the Royal Wedding on 29 April is expected to top a global TV viewership of about 2 billion people. About 400 million people are expected to watch it online and about 800 000 observers will be crowding the streets outside Buckingham Palace. South Africa's 24 hour news channel will now help to bring that event and the news surrounding it to South African viewers on the eNews Channel and e.tv.

The eNews Channel will be on the streets of London from Monday 25 April with Andrew Barnes, who did American mid-term election coverage this past October from New York and Washington. Andrew Barnes will be filing stories for both the news channel as well as for e.tv's eNews Prime Time at 19:00 from this date right through the week. As the world's news media converge in London from 25 April, TV with Thinus can reveal that the eNews Channel is planning its own special set of stories around this global TV event of the year.

Andrew Barnes will be talking to British experts in London about the finer intricacies of pulling off this major high-profile wedding. He will also be taking a look at Britain's Republican movement who don't really like the monarchy. The eNews Channel will also profile New Scotland Yard's massive security operation that will come into operation in the days leading up to, and on the day of the Royal Wedding.

The eNews Channel's news coverage on the Royal Wedding day will include looking at the journey to the historical Westminster Abbey, the glamorous wedding ceremony and all the wedding celebrations planned across the United Kingdom.
