BREAKING. Is M-Net getting ready to get rid of its longtime, now fatigued, kids brand KTV?

You're reading it here first.

It's shocking but its what I hear and what a lot of people are talking about: that M-Net is apparently having plans to get rid of its KTV kids brand as an afternoon TV slot in the not-too-far-away future and wind down the brand.

Talk about M-Net possibly retiring its iconic KTV brand started a while ago in the lead-up to this year's KTV Market Day when people were apparently told that it would be ''the last annual KTV Market Day'' since M-Net is looking at ending KTV and getting out of the kids slot, or replacing it with something new.Several people told me that its apparently happening because KTV has waned over the years (M-Net even retired its non-performing K World channel on DStv that was a separate KTV channel a while ago) ''because M-Net's KTV audience has been whittled away by the Nickelodeons and Disney channels on DStv who are now doing a much better job than what M-Net can with KTV''. ''I was told KTV viewership is a fraction of what it used to be and that M-Net sees no sense in continuing with what the Disneys now does much better,'' a famous national DJ told me.

A month and a half ago when I first heard about this astonishing news circulation amongst journalist, DJs and organizers across the country, I immediately asked M-Net about the future of KTV, the future of KTV Market Day and what the facts are. I've asked several times since. A month and a half later, M-Net to date has chosen not to respond to any of this, or to make any statement about KTV or the future of this storied M-Net brand, and whether there is and will be continued longevity for KTV, or whether KTV will indeed be gone by next year.
