WATCH THIS. ''25 years have come and gone, and that story's still unfolding'': Paul Simon does his great (updated!) Oprah theme song again.
For the 25th season premiere of The Oprah Winfrey Show that was broadcast in America yesterday, the show started in a way that the queen of talk's show could actually have ended its final episode that's coming next year.
When The Oprah Winfrey Show started on NNTV (that later became SABC3) in South Africa, the talk show celebrated its 10th year and Paul Simon sang a specially composed song entitled ''Ten Years'' that he wrote for her to use as her theme song.
In yesterday's show Oprah Winfrey was surprised by Paul Simon on the Oprah stage - this time with a new rendition of ''Ten Years'', now 15 years later. You will want to watch this - not just because of the nostalgia-laden images and the history of both the show and the iconic TV personality it invokes, but because its a wonderful TV moment. The five minute backwall retrospective accompanied with Paul Simon's acoustic guitar, unplugged and singing an updated ''Ten Years'' - now with the words ''25 years have come and gone, and that story's still unfolding'' - would actually have been able to serve as a very fitting, and a great closing moment to cap the The Oprah Winfrey Show's 25 years on television.
