The best done televised awards ceremony in all of South Africa is the annual Channel O Music Video Awards and Channel O (DStv 320) just released this year's list of nominees that viewers can vote for and who might take home a statuette in the 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards.
The 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards will take place on Thursday, November 4 at the Sandton Convention Centre, a departure from Carnival City where the superbly well-done awards ceremony was done held the previous two years. Viewers are now able to vote by SMS or through the website HERE in various categories that include Most Gifted Male Video, Most Gifted Female Video, Most Gifted Newcomer, Most Gifted Duo, Most Gifted Video of the Year and a range of other categories that will honour the best in dance music, ragga dancehall, Afro pop, R&B, kwaito, hip hop and videos from East-, West-, and South- Africa.
''What's especially pleasing this year is the reach of the nominees,'' says Yolisa Phahle, channel director of M-Net's special interest channels. ''It's great to see a country like Angola make its presence felt and there's a strong showing by artists from Ghana, Kenya and South Africa. In the end its the fans who decide who walks away with a statuette,'' she says.
The nominees for the 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards are spread across 14 categories with five nominees per category - except for Most Gifted Video of the Year that has six nominees.
