BREAKING. MultiChoice axed the planned M-Net Cape Town Carnival TV channel.
You're reading it here first.
I broke the news RIGHT HERE that M-Net's planned Cape Town Carnival TV channel on DSTv is a gonner. Now I can tell you exclusively first that it was MultiChoice who decided to pull the plug on the idea of a Cape Town Carnival TV channel.
M-Net announced in September last year with big fanfare that the upcoming Cape Town Carnival at the end of March will be covered with a dedicated M-Net channel full of pre-packaged content as well as covering the parade live. None of that will now be happening.
According to sources MultiChoice no longer found the idea of a dedicated Cape Town Carnival TV channel a feasible idea. Instead of a TV channel covering the event, M-Net will now record and show an hour long Cape Town Carnival special set to air sometime in April, with no specific broadcasting date yet attached. Inserts and coverage might also make it into shows like M-Net's entertainment show All Access.
