BREAKING. Hope for Haiti telethon could be shown on MTV, CNN International and National Geographic TV channels in South Africa.

You're reading it here first.

South African TV viewers could get to see the telethon Hope in Haiti on Friday, 22 January on one, two or all three of the TV channels: MTV (DStv 321), National Geographic (DStv 260) and CNN International (DStv 401).

These 3 global TV networks all got the rights to the Hope in Haiti telethon that will be produced by George Clooney, MTV Networks, Joel Gallen and Tenth Planet Productions.

I've asked all 3 channels directly whether they will (a) show Hope in Haiti on their channel feed in South Africa, and (b) whether for the full 2 hour, commercial free duration or for portions of it. The moment I hear from each one of them I will immediately post that news here.

Hope in Haiti will be hosted by George Clooney in Los Angeles, Wyclef Jean in New York and CNN International's Anderson Cooper in Haiti. Hope in Haiti will be broadcast from New York and Los Angeles and will feature musical performances and celebrity appearances, as well as live news reports from CNN International. All proceeds from the Hope in Haiti telethon will be split evenly among 5 relief organizations currently operating in Haiti: Oxfam America, Partners in Health, the Red Cross, UNICEF and Yele Haiti Foundation. Facebook and MySpace have also signed on as official social media partners.
