Siki Mgabadeli also gone from eNCA as the latest high-profile talent exiting the TV news channel.

Siki Mgabadeli is the next high-profile talent exiting the rebranded eNCA (DStv 403) with her last appearance on the TV news channel coming on Tuesday 1 August a day after Justice Malala left following the final episode and cancellation of The Justice Factor on Monday

Siki Mgabadeli that started with Moneyline four years ago on eNCA was moved to the new late night News Hour at 22:00 on the rebranded eNCA the past two weeks but is the next gonner in the ongoing and growing flood of exits in 2018 from eNCA that the eMedia Investment's channel doesn't want to talk about or respond to.

eNCA and e.tv defections have continued unabated in 2018, including senior reporter Karyn Maughan, political analyst Angelo Fick, anchors Marc Chase, Joanne Joseph and Ayanda-Allie Paine, eNCA's former head of current affairs, Debbie Meyers, and Phathiswa Magopeni who was eNCA's business and economics editor and head of terrestrial news services at eNCA.

"Today marks my final broadcast on eNCA. It's been an incredible four years. I am especially proud of the 485 episodes of Moneyline and my superstar team. We did things I had only dreamt of doing. Thank you to these great journalists and producers. And thank you for watching,"said Siki Mgabadeli in a statement.

Mapi Mhlangu, eNCA editor-in-chief and managing director, said "we thank Siki for her contribution to the channel. She helped build a solid economic platform on eNCA and her accomplished and authoritative approach made her a nightly news favourite".

A SPOON FULL OF SUGAR: eNCA takes and uses News24's Sugar Scale graphic without bothering to give any credit to who did it first.

On Thursday night eNCA (DStv 403) took News24's Sugar Scale graphic of Theuns Kruger from 2015 and blatantly plagiarised it without giving any credit.

eNCA was so lazy in its blatant on-air graphic theft that it couldn't even bother to even slightly amend or change the graphic, using the same graphic even down to the grey teaspoons full of white sugar on yellow columns.

With Prof. Anton Harber taking over as editor-in-chief at eNCA from March, he would be perfectly placed to lecture eNCA staff about plagiarism, and why it's not right to take other journalist's work and showcasing it without giving proper credit.

M-Net's Carte Blanche did a sugar story in 2015 and used the same graphic in 2015, and Combined Artistic Productions gave proper credit in May last year.

The graphic created by Theuns Kruger is of course from last year's story and information gathered by journalist Grethe Koen in what took a long time to find, search, put together and then showcase in an investigative article.

eNCA would (rightly) complain and likely scream blue murder if some other news outlet took its news clips or content or exclusively generated news and repurposed or used it without due credit.

Sport clips of course get "courtesy: SuperSport", but that didn't happen with Graphics24's "The Sugar Scale".

eNCA cuts back on flagship evening programme NewsNight by half an hour; brings Moneyline earlier to now start at 21:00.

eNCA (DStv 403) is cutting back on the 24-hour South African TV news channel's flagship daily programme NewsNight truncated by half an hour to now end at 20:30; with the financial show Moneyline brought earlier.

eNCA quietly scaled back on NewsNight anchored by Jeremy Maggs and Iman Rapetti which starts at 18:00 and now ends at 20:30 instead of 21:00.

It means half an hour less general news for viewers as part of the channel's flagship nightly programme.

Moneyline which used to start at 21:00 has now been moved half an hour earlier to start at 20:30.

eNCA was asked why NewsNight was shortened. There was no answer or explanation from the channel about the programme and schedule change which was also not announced beforehand to the press.

UPDATE 11 June 2015 18:15 - Managing director for news, Patrick Conroy, called me out for using an old logo for NewsNight with this story and asked that I please update my records.

I apologise for using an old logo, I have updated this story with the latest NewsNight logo as its shown to viewers on eNCA nightly.

Patrick Conroy further called the story "disingenuous". Patrick Conroy says the change to NewsNight "was promo'd on air for two weeks before the change. Your article says 'quietly cut back'. Wrong. Snide snipe."

There wasn't an answer from eNCA (yet) to the specific question in a media enquiry I made to eNCA of why NewsNight went from 3 hours to 2 and a half hours.

Siki Mgabadeli's new weekday business show on eNCA from 1 October will be called Moneyline.

You're reading it here first.

eNCA has refused to divulge the name of Siki Mgabadeli's new half hour business show which will start on Wednesday 1 October at 21:00 on weekdays on eNCA (DStv 403) so TV with Thinus will reveal it: It will be called Moneyline.

South African viewers watched a Moneyline of a different kind when CNN International first became available in South Africa on the SABC's then TV1 when Lou Dobbs was the anchor of the daily Moneyline on the channel which was simulcast for a few hours per day.

Siki Mgabadeli will anchor Moneyline on eNCA from Mondays to Thursdays as eNCA's new senior business anchor, while Arabile Gumede will be anchoring the Friday night slots.
