''The SABC can confirm that following an internal investigation against Mr. Mampone, both parties have parted ways,'' says Kaizer Kganyago in a statement to TV with Thinus.

Insider sources tell me Gab Mampone who've been suspended for basically a year, was found guilty of irregularities at the SABC and was finally let go.

Gab Mampone was suspended on 26 February last year by the SABC. He was accused of misconduct during the period of May 2008 to December 2009 when he was acting group CEO of the SABC. After his suspension Gab Mampone then released a statement saying ''there's a huge injustice in my suspension and it must now be exposed''.

Then the SABC said ''his suspension is to enable the SABC board to investigate and give an accurate picture of the reasons why revenue has declined so markedly in the past three years'' and that ''our preliminary investigations... have revealed serious shortcomings in some divisions,'' and that Gab Mampone's suspension ''was critical to the investigation into the sales and marketing, revenue and governance of the SABC''.

Then in May last year Gab Mampone took the SABC to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) for his alleged unfair suspension. Sources now say Gab Mampone has finally been dismissed from the SABC. The SABC didn't immediately respond to media enquiries about this.

UPDATED Saturday 9 April 09:00 - The SABC just confirmed to me that Gab Mampone has been dismissed by the broadcaster, simply saying in a statement to TV with Thinus, ''The SABC can confirm that following an internal investigation against Mr. Mampone, both parties have parted ways.''

While the shock regarding the late-Friday suspension of Gab Mampone is reverberating through the South Africa's TV industry and the SABC which I was first to tell you about (RIGHT HERE), it seems that Gab Mampone will not be the only one suspended.

Insider sources within the SABC reacted immediately. I spoke with several credible and longtime SABC sources who are telling me that the suspension of Gab Mampone will be followed by several more. Another credible SABC inside source told me the same thing, saying ''more suspensions are looming. More high level executives at the SABC are definitely on their way out.''

Another highly placed source at the SABC told me that several executives are on the verge of being moved out of their positions that they're occupying now. According to this source, they will soon be publicly ''redeployed''.

I know and have been given very specific names, but I'm rather not going to mention them here now. All I can say is . . . if you deal with some people at the SABC, make sure you're aware of who their colleagues are. Some of them are going to be gone very soon, and if you don't know who's the fall-back person, you're going to be in trouble.

I have the first reaction from the Support Public Broadcasting group (SOS) on the sudden and shocking suspension of Gab Mampone at the SABC. I spoke to Kate Skinner, SOS coordinator about Gab Mampone who was suddenly suspended this afternoon by the SABC board and this is what she told me:

''There seems to be a committment from the SABC to now deal strongly with issues of corruption and mismanagement. The SABC has been slow to react but now they are. It's also positive that the pblic broadcaster earlier this week asked for the auditor general (AG) to return and continue to help the SABC.''

''This seems to be a part of a bigger picture of the SABC now being serious about wanting to deal with corruption and mismanagement and the broadcaster should be supported in this going forward. You want to see senior officials being held accountable, but the SABC needs to look at all levels. We need to keep the pressure on.''

''The board of the SABC this afternoon suspended the group executive: commercial enterprises, mr. Gab Mampone,'' the SABC tell me, confirming the shocking news.

TOLDYA! Solly Mokoetle the SABC's new group CEO.

 On 25 November I was first with the news that Solly Mokoetle is probably going to be the new group CEO of the SABC. The SABC has now finally confirmed this. The SABC's interim board has appointed Solly Mokoetle in the position and he will start officially from January 2010. Solly replaces Gab Mampone.

Solly was chief content officer at Super5Media who wants to start a satellite TV platform in 2010.

The SABC interime board chairperson, Irene Charnley says Solly Mokoetle was ''selected as a suitable candidate following vigrous and necessary processes'' and that he has been working at the SABC for 12 years.

What the SABC is NOT saying, is that Solly Mokoetle had to be escorted OUT of the SABC when he refused to vacate his office in December 2006 when he didn't want to leave after his contract wasn't renewed at the end of December 2006.
