Sindy Mabe returns to TV news as the next new sole anchor for ANN7's ANN7 Prime on weeknights from Monday 21 March.
The revolving chair of main anchor at ANN7 (DStv 405) will be filled by Sindy Mabe from this coming Monday evening with the former breakfast show presenter who is the latest news reader to move into the prime time chair at the channel.
Sindy Mabe replaces senior anchor Peter van Onselen who expertly occupied the chair at ANN7 Prime for the past two and a half months at the Gupta owned TV news channel based in Midrand.
At the end of December 2015 Peter van Onselen stepped in to replace Sebenzile Nkambule as prime time anchor who quietly left, who in turn replaced Nzinga Qunta who quit.
In just the past year an ever-changing roster of names including Juliet Newell, Candy Harris, Gladys Sithole, Chante Jantjies, Nzinga Qunta, Sebenzile Nkambule and Peter van Onselen all sat in the ANN7 Prime chair since original anchor Chantal Rutter Dros quit the news channel in December 2014.
Now Sindy Mabe who abruptly disappeared from e.tv's Sunrise in July 2014 is resurfacing on television as the ANN7 Prime presentation that has seen several "relaunches" and changes over the past two years is once again undergoing a change.
She previously did stints at e.tv's Sunrise, SABC2's Morning Live Weekend and e.tv's Morning Edition and will be the latest sole ANN7 Prime anchor from Monday 21 March at 19:00.
"For me, joining the dynamic ANN7 team is a unique and exciting opportunity to expand my skills set, meet new friends and share in our mandate to provide viewers with credible, reliable and balanced quality programming," says Sindy Mabe.
"This is the start of an exciting chapter for ANN7," says Abhinav Sahay, ANN7 news editor about the latest prime time on-screen shuffle at the Infinity Media Networks news channel on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV platform.
"We feel that it will help build our success as a news channel. We are pleased to see Sindy join the team, we have an incredibly talented group of anchors and she will add value to this tremendous list."
ANN7 remains mired in 3rd place in the ratings race when it comes to local South African TV news channels with a paltry 10.66% of audience share in February on DStv, compared to eNCA (DStv 403) in the lead with 51.54% of total viewers, and the SABC's SABC News (DStv 404) channel at 20.37%.

ANN7 adds new local documentary wildlife series, Wild Treasures on Saturdays at 10:30; will look at possible conservation and preservation solutions.
ANN7 (DStv 405) is adding a new documentary wildlife series, Wild Treasures, to its programming line-up with the environmentally focused show that will start on Saturday 20 February at 10:30, with repeats on Sundays at 11:30 and 18:30.
ANN7 says Wild Treasures is a documentary series that will highlight some of South Africa's wildlife and conservation efforts and will focus on vulnerable, rare and valued species on land and in the sea.
"Our aim with Wild Treasures is to help in conservation efforts so that South Africa's uniquely rich wild heritage can be preserved for the posterity and the world to admire," says Abhinav Sahay, ANN7 news editor.
"This programme will have a positive impact as we dig deep into solutions for wildlife preservation around the country."
Wild Treasures will focus on profiling amazing species, ranging from amphibians and insects to reptiles and bird species.
The first episode of Wild Treasures on ANN7 will focus on one of South Africa's endangered species, abalone. This sea snail is one of the most sought-after species by poachers and the episode will look at various conservation efforts and whether abalone farming could be the answer to preserving these creatures.

ANN7 silent, staff in shock after ANN7 journalist physically attacks and assaults news editor Abhinav Sahay in the ANN7 Midrand newsroom.
ANN7 (DStv 405) doesn't want to talk about or comment about scandalous behaviour once again damaging the image and reputation of the South African 24-hour TV news channel run by Infinity Media after an ANN7 journalist physically attacked and assaulted ANN7 news editor Abhinav Sahay in the Midrand newsroom.
Abhinav Sahay got a cut to his upperlip and bled after an ANN7 journalist head-butted him in the ANN7 newsroom on Wednesday during an argument over a news story.
A case of alleged assault has been lodged at the South African Police Service and is once again making South Africa's TV and news industry as well as viewers of the TV news channel wonder what is going on inside ANN7's news operation.
ANN7 editor-in-chief Moegsien Williams told staff on Wednesday that "disciplinary action is begin taken" and that the journalist has been suspended with immediate effect.
Moegsien Williams told shocked ANN7 staff that "we are all aware of the unsavoury incident that occurred in the ANN7 newsroom earlier today. As a company, we cannot condone this type of behaviour which was a physical attack on a colleague.
"In addition, it disrupted operations and brought the company's reputation into question".
ANN7 on Friday told TV with Thinus in response to a media enquiry asking how ANN7 feels about the incident, what is happening with the news editor, and with the journalist, that "it is not Infinity Media's policy to comment on internal or disciplinary matters".
Meanwhile ANN7's public image externally is being tarnished once again and ANN7 is silent once again about shocking internal personnel matters which impacts how ANN7 is perceived, and its reputation, by the TV industry and viewers.
From before launch, and since it started ANN7 has been mired in on-air and behind the scenes talent and personnel drama - with ongoing stories the past two years of firings, talent and staff quitting, and a revolving door of on-air faces - some who are removed and several who've quit.
One of the original start-up helpers, the former editor Rajesh Sundaram who was thrown out the building and allegedly feared for his life after he quit, even promised to write an explosive tell-all expose of the troubles and alleged horrific working conditions behind the scenes at ANN7 but a book never materialised.
According to constable Matome Tlamela, the ANN7 journalist on Wednesday allegedly physically assaulted Abhinav Sahay while asking about the progress of a story.
