BBC News launching Cut Through the Noise, as a new weekly news programme on Facebook Watch.

The BBC's BBC News division is launching a new weekly news programme, Cut Through the Noise, on Facebook Watch, it's first non-American news programme on the social media platform.

Cut Through the Noise will be done from BBC News' Washington bureau or somewhere else in the field and cover a different issue weekly.

Facebook Watch rolled out internationally in August, a year after it became available in the United States only.

"Social media is an important source of news and information for many Americans, so we are always looking for new ways of bringing our audiences high-quality, non-partisan news coverage they can trust from around the world," says Jim Egan, BBC Global News chief executive, in a statement.

Campbell Brown, head of global news partnerships for Facebook, says: "Earlier this year we made a commitment to show news that is trustworthy, informative, and local on Facebook."

"As a part of that commitment, we are creating a dedicated section within Watch for news shows produced exclusively for Facebook by news publishers, and they will receive marketing support in News Feed."
