A firestorm is raging after the SABC's Ndebele weather presenter Lebo Dhlamini claims harassment and discrimination and that she had to show her boss daily how she’s dressed.
Lebo Dhlamini (29) has not been back to work doing
the weather on SABC1 since March when she left for maternity leave.
Lebo Dhlamini claims she was harassed and that a senior
SABC staffer who she had to show daily how she's dressed, also had a problem
with her Ndebele language use which she speaks fluently.
SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago didn’t
immediately repond to a media enquiry about Lebo Dhlamini from TV with Thinus made on
Friday morning about the story which was first reported in The Citizen newspaper.
Speaking of an SABC boss, Lebo Dhlamini alleges
that she had to "go to the man's office and show him how I am dressed every
day. His complaint about my use of language amounts to ethnic discrimination".
The SABC apparently didn't renew the contract
of the mother of two who has been a weather presenter on SABC1 for the past
three years.
According to Lebo Dhlamini her line manager sent
her a SMS at the end of June saying "previously you had problems with [your
boss] and language issues. You must make a decision whether you want to
continue or move on. I will have no choice but to cancel the new contract for
now".
