Kids' channel Nickelodeon (DStv 305) which is struggling with falling viewership in America has ordered a massive 14 TV shows for 2013 which includes several live-action and animation series, TV movies and even spin-offs of existing shows
New series include Wendell and Vinnie and two spin-off comedy pilots, Sam & Cat and Gibby with characters from the shows iCarly and Victorious.
Nickelodeon also ordered a pilot of Instant Mom as well as TV movies Swindle and Nicky Deuce will will start production later this year. There is also animation series Monsters vs. Aliens and Sanjay & Craig, Monty and Norville another pilot for Blaze and the Monster Machines.
Wendell and Vinnie has Jerry Trainor as Vinnie, the goofball uncle who becomes a guardian to his 12 year old nephew Wendell (Buddy Handleson). There will be 20 episodes.
You Gotta See This combines web footage, behind-the-scenes footage, celebrity interviews, pranks and bloopers and has Chris O’Neal and Noah Crawford as the presenters. There will be 20 episodes.
Swindle (working title) is a made-for-TV movie. When an evil collector cons Griffin out of a million dollar baseball card that could have saved his best friend's home, he unites a ragtag group of his classmates who need to work as a team to take down the swindler. Swindle is based on a popular children's book by Gordon Korman. Production will start later this year in Vancouver, Canada.
Nicky Deuce (working title) is a made-for-TV movie about Nicholas Borelli II, a nerdy, over-protected teen who gets caught in the adventure of a lifetime when he spends the summer with an uncle he never knew he had. Production will start later this year in Montreal, Canada.
