In April I broke the news RIGHT HERE that the world's most watched entertainment news show Entertainment Tonight is coming to SABC3 in June, and SABC3 just confirmed it to the press with a date.
The half hour Entertainment Tonight entertainment news show with Mark Steines and his new co-host Nancy O'Dell will start on SABC3 on Friday 24 June at 19:30. Entertainment Tonight, the frontrunner of shows like E! News on E! Entertainment and Showbiz Tonight on Star! is broadcast on weekdays and over weekends in America.
South Africa will start off with one episode per week though, on a Friday. In December last year I made a public plea for one of the big broadcasters in South Africa to please get the original entertainment news TV show for viewers - the original show we've never yet seen and that started the genre of entertainment news on television.
SABC3 says the Entertainment Tonight episode will be a very recent episode. Entertainment Tonight will initially be a weekly show, but SABC3 will look and test the reaction of viewers. If enough people watch and if Entertainment Tonight finds traction with buzz and viewership as a weekly show, it could become a weekday show on SABC3 with daily episodes on the schedule by October when SABC3 relaunches with a new look and feel, schedule and shows.
