Both Carnival Row and A Million Little Things announced the series are ending, with the fantasy drama series on Amazon Prime Video which will end with its second season and the tearjerker family-friendship drama series from ABC seen on M-Net and Showmax which will conclude with its fifth season.
DJ Nash, the creator and an executive producer of the American drama series A Million Little Things seen on M-Net (DStv 101) and MultiChoice's video streaming service Showmax, announced late on Monday in a statement that the show will end after the upcoming fifth season.
A Million Little Things which will end after five seasons was ABC's response to NBC's This is Us which lasted six seasons and was also on M-Net before switching to Disney+ earlier this year.
The premise of A Million Little Things revolves around a group of friends who are jolted into reexamining their lives and trying to live fuller lives following the unexpected death of a friend, with David Giuntoli, Romany Malco, Allison Miller, Christina Moses, Grace Park, James Roday Rodriguez, Tristan Byon, Lizzy Greene and Chance Hurstfield in the ensemble cast.
The cast recorded a "farewell season" promo video for the upcoming fifth season which will start in February 2023 in the United States.
"We can't believe this incredible journey is coming to an end," Grace Park says. David Giuntoli says "but as we've always said from the beginning, we would end this journey when the time was right." Christina Moses says "And as hard as it is for us to say it...", James Roday Rodriguez concludes with: "Now feels like the right time to say goodbye".
DJ Nash in a statement says "I know seeing this show end may be sad for many people (especially my mom who watches live every week), but I always knew I wanted to follow these friends for five seasons and leave them when the time was right".
"When we started making our show, I never could have imagined this incredible community of 'Millionaires' who would come together and not only watch, but also share with each other their personal struggles, their pain and ultimately their true grit."
"I am both honoured and humbled by all of it and am so in awe of the incredible actors, writers, directors and crew who lend their talent to make our show. I am also so grateful that ABC now makes mental health awareness one of the top issues for which it advocates."
'Final season' for Carnival Row
In separate news, Amazon Prime Video announced that it has cancelled Carnival Row and that the second season of the fantasy drama series will be its "final season".
The second season starring Cara Delivinge and Orlando Bloom will debut on 17 February 2023 on Amazon Prime Video for a further 10 episodes.
According to Amazon Prime Video's official description for the second season, the story "picks up with former inspector Rycroft Philostrate aka Philo (Orlando Bloom) investigating a series of gruesome murders stoking social tension".
"Vignette Stonemoss (Cara Delevingne) and the Black Raven plot payback for the unjust oppression inflicted by The Burgue's human leaders, Jonah Breakspear (Arty Froushan) and Sophie Longerbane (Caroline Ford)."
"Tourmaline (Karla Crome) inherits supernatural powers that threaten her fate and the future of The Row and, after escaping The Burgue and her vengeful brother Ezra (Andrew Gower), Imogen Spurnrose (Tamzin Merchant) and her partner Agreus Astrayon (David Gyasi) encounter a radical new society which upends their plans."
