BREAKING. TopTV says subscription fee increase from 1 July is an ''inflationary adjustment'' because of the increased cost of TV content.
I was the first journalist yesterday to write that TopTV will be increasing its prices from 1 July and the pay TV platform is now officially confirming all the news exactly as I've said yesterday that the monthly subscription charge of all bouquets will increase between 6% and 8%, except for the cheapest of R99 which will remain unchanged.

TopTV is officially confirming the 1 July monthly subscription increase and says this an ''inflationary adjustment which any business faces when dealing with rising operational costs.'' TopTV says the subscription fee increase is necessary because of an increase in the cost of TV content. ''Considering that we have now been operational for 13 months we have managed to keep off this adjustment into our 14th month.''
The TopTV increase per package from 1 July 2011, is as I've written yesterday:
Variety, Kids & Music will increase from R159 to R169
Variety, Entertainment & Knowledge will increase from R159 to R169
Variety, Kids & Music, Entertainment & Knowledge will increase from R189 to R199
Variety, Kids & Music, Ultimate Movies will increase from R219 to R239
Variety, Entertainment & Knowledge, Ultimate Movies will increase from R219 to R239
Variety, Kids & Music, Entertainment & Knowledge, Ultimate Movies will be adjusted from R249 to R269
The separate Indian bouquet subscription of Top Star will increase from R60 to R69
The Variety package will remain unchanged at R99 per month.
