Tears came when Magda van Biljon described what she and Zack du Plessis have meant to each other on the weekly Afrikaans magazine show Kwêla on kykNET (DStv 111) at 19:30. ''We never stood in each others' way or in each other's light,'' she said.
''The three months since he's been diagnosed [with lung cancer] has probably been the most precious in our lives,'' Magda van Biljon said in a sit-down interview to Kwêla presenter Mandi du Plooy. ''We laughed a bit, we cried a bit, we prayed a bit. Did a bit of oxygen, did a bit of everything. And then Zack made the children come sit on the bed and said: We're making too much of this life. We say every Sunday we believe in the resurrection and eternal life - and now we have to live that.''
Magda van Biljon, while fighting back the tears, said that her ''definition of grace is to find in once parcel your soulmate, your partner, your marriage partner, your live-in director, critic, your psychologist, and your lovey - and that you get to keep it all in one bundle in your arms.'' She said her children called their dad ''the big grey one'' and to her ''he's just my lovey''.
''Last week when he said to me that I'm the most beautiful woman in the world, I knew what love is.''
