M-Net has ended the decade old EDiT Awards honouring young filmmakers and has decided to rather focus its attention on the pay broadcaster's other social investment initiatives.
The EDiT Awards that was held last month and that M-Net described as ''the country's premiere competition for emerging film talent'' will not take place again.
M-Net will instead focus on the Vuka! Awards that honours public service announcement advertisements, and the New Directions training initiative for new filmmakers. M-Net plans to relaunch New Directions next month after the initiative was revived in 2009 after a break of two years.
