American crime procedural Instinct with Alan Cumming and seen on M-Net cancelled after 2 seasons.

The American crime procedural drama series, Instinct, with Alan Cumming, seen on M-Net (DStv 101), has been cancelled after two seasons.

Instinct's series creator and executive producer Michael Rauch revealed the cancellation news on Twitter, saying that Instinct that CBS in the United States has been burning off with two episodes weekly, will broadcast its 11-episode second season and series finale on Sunday 25 August 2019.

"Thanks to our incredible crew, cast, writers, producers and all who helped make our show, with respect, talent & kindness," wrote Michael Rauch. "And a giant thank you to our diehard fans for your love, loyalty and excellent taste (is it too soon to ask for a reboot?)."

Instinct was based on the novel from James Patterson with Alan Cumming as a former CIA operative, now a psychology professor and author, who was lured back to his old life when the NYPD needed his help to stop a serial killer in New York who used his own book as inspiration for killings.

The American drama series made history as the first American broadcast drama series with an openly gay lead character as the protagonist. Instinct was produced by CBS Television Studios.
