Duration of final Game of Thrones episodes seen on M-Net set to stretch longer and longer.

Whatever your favourite snack is when watching television, start hoarding and stacking up because the final Game of Thrones episodes will basically get longer and longer as the last 6 "mini-movie" episodes are broadcast from 15 April on M-Net (DStv 101).

HBO has released the estimated running times of the upcoming 8th and final season of Game of Thrones that will start on 14 April in the United States and that M-Net will show as an Express from the US title as a simultaneous simulcast at 03:00 on the mornings from 15 April.

M-Net will reshow Game of Thrones on Mondays at 22:00 with episodes of the 8th season that will become available after its linear broadcast on MultiChoice's subscription video-on-demand service (SVOD) Showmax, as well as on its DStv Now Catch Up service for DStv subscribers. Showmax also carries a library carousel of the previous 7 seasons' episodes.

M-Net will also be doing a big screen cosplay celebration viewing party for die-hard, sleep-when-you're-dead Game of Thrones fans at 03:00 in the morning in Cape Town, Johannesburg and possibly another city or two for people who want to watch the beginning of the end of the fantasy series together. Details of the competition have not yet been announced.

HBO released "estimated" running times for the episodes with some that will contain spectacular battle scenes.

Why "estimate"? Because HBO is literally still pouring over and working on final cuts for the various episodes, so the running times of all or some of the episodes might even be a few minutes longer in the end.

HBO says it estimates that the first episode of the 8th season of Game of Thrones on 15 April will be 54 minutes in duration.

Sit tight and keep those King's Landing popcorn, White Walker brittle candy or dragon juice close since the episode length jumps to 58 minutes for the second episode on 22 April, and a whopping 1 hour and 22 minutes for the third Game of Thrones episode on 29 April.

The 4th episode on 6 May will be 1 hour and 18 minutes, and episode 5 on 13 May will have a running length of 1 hour and 20 minutes.

The 6th and final episode will clock in at 1 hour and 20 minutes.
