South Africa's parliament shortlists these 12 candidates for the 4 vacant SABC board positions, public asked to comment.


South Africa's parliament has released a shortlist of 12 names of possible candidates to replace the 4 vacant seats on the SABC board of the embattled South African public broadcaster.

The latest SABC board once again has vacancies after several resignations, including Rachel Kalidass, Febe Potgieter-Gqubule and Victor Rambau, as well Nomvuyiso Batyi who withdrew.

The South African public has until 23 October to comment on any of the 12 shortlisted candidates selected by parliament's portfolio committee on communications and must send comments to committee secretary Thembinkosi Ngoma at tngoma@parliament.org.za

Interviews of the candidates will take place on October 30.

The 12 candidates are:

  • Diliza Madikiza
  • Unathi Magwentshu
  • Makhubalo Vuyokazi
  • Mathews Mofokeng
  • Bernedette Muthien,

  • Michael Nurick
  • Jasmina Patel
