Bonang Matheba's reality show, Being Bonang, back for a second season from May as M-Net renews it for 1Magic despite the star saying in 2017 that it won't return.

Bonang Matheba's reality show Being Bonang will return for a second season that will start on 1Magic (Dstv 103) on 4 May despite the star who said in October 2017 that there won't be a second season.

Last week Wednesday, 28 March, when TVwithThinus asked M-Net whether there would be a second season of Being Bonang on 1Magic, Nondumiso Mabece, head of publicity at M-Net local entertainment channels, told TVwithThinus that "1Magic is currently in talks with Bonang to produce a second season of Being Bonang in the first half of this year".

"We have initiated these talks with her as we believe audiences enjoyed the first season of the show and getting a glimpse into her life away from the public eye. Season two would allow our viewers to get to know her further and catch-up on where she is now and what projects is she working on," said Nondumiso Mabece.

Sometime in the past 3 working days, M-Net must have signed a contract with Bonang Matheba.

It's not yet clear why M-Net and or Bonang Matheba had a change of heart, or how a first episode can be filmed, edited and be ready in a month's time for broadcast since M-Net was only still in talks about a new season by last week.

Being Bonang will again only be available to DStv Premium subscribers on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV platform.

On Wednesday Bonang Matheba at a media event said that her reality show Being Bonang will be "back on 4 May, so may the fourth be with you" and that the second season will focus some more on the breakout star, her cousin Pinky Girl's life.

Although the Bonang Matheba Entertainment (BME) and BarLeader produced Being Bonang wasn't a breakout ratings hit in its 14-episode first season, despite a new co-director who was brought in to help, the show did manage to turn her cousin Tebogo Mekgwe "Pinky Girl"into a star.

M-Net tells TVwithThinus that the second season of Being Bonang will have 13 episodes.
