BREAKING. JIM VOLKWYN OUT AS CEO, IMTIAZ PATEL IN AS NEW CEO OF NASPERS' VIDEO ENTERTAINMENT GROUP.

Jim Volkwyn is out, replaced by Imtiaz Patel (pictured) as the new CEO of Naspers' Video Entertainment group.

Imtiaz Patel who was the CEO of MultiChoice South Africa, and previously CEO of SuperSport, takes over from Jim Volkwyn.

According to Naspers, Jim Volkwyn (pictured right) will continue to be involved with the group and will remain on the MultiChoice board.

So far no reasons from Naspers for the change in leadership and for why Jim Volkwyn is out.

Asked who the new MultiChoice CEO for South Africa is who will be replacing Imtiaz Patel, MultiChoice tells TV with Thinus that the role is vacant and a new CEO will be recruited.

Imtiaz Patel took over as MultiChoice CEO in October 2013 after Collins Khumalo quit.

The connected and friendly Imtiaz Patel joined SuperSport in 2000 and became CEO of SuperSport in March 2005.

As a well-respected TV executive, Imtiaz Patel has been intrinsically linked to the massive organic expansion of Naspers' pay-TV broadcasting brands not just in South Africa but throughout sub-Saharan African the past decade.
