BREAKING. SABC News channel goes off the air on MultiChoice's DStv platform at 7pm; channel off the air for 12 minutes, outages continue.

You're reading it here first.

SABC News (DStv 404) abruptly went off air on Thursday evening at 19:00 on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV platform.

DStv displayed a message that it's working on the problem.

MultiChoice on Thursday evening didn't immediately respond to a media enquiry on what is wrong and where the technical problem is.

SABC News suddenly resumed at 19:12 - starting with a slanted story about the court ordered suspension of the SABC's controversial and famously matricless Hlaudi Motsoeneng.

At 19:16 there was again a signal loss of SABC News on DStv.

At 19:20 the SABC News channel again went dead on DStv for a third time, flickering off for a few seconds.

At 19:21 SABC News again buzzed off DStv erratically. Something was clearly wrong somewhere.

On Friday morning MultiChoice said in response to Thursday evening's media enquiry that "there was a problem with the feed to MultiCHoice and the channel was back on-air approximately 5 minutes later".
