The SABC in a late statement issued today, says the broadcaster ''continues to focus on the important task of the turnaround strategy''.

With both the public broadcaster and the unions in a deadlock after negotiations in April and further negotiations in Pretoria over 5 days in May, one further dispute resolution meeting is going to be taking place where the unions and the SABC will have one final chance to come to an agreement. The unions are refusing to back down from their demand of a salary increase of 10,5% and an increase in the housing allowance. The SABC is only offering a 7,07% increase.

If the two sides can't find agreement during the upcoming dispute resolution meeting (a date will have to be set within the next five working days), the unions and the SABC will be going to the CCMA or Labour Court.

''The SABC will initiate discussions with organized labour and try and resolve the impasse,'' says the broadcaster in the short statement.
