BREAKING. Nat Geo planning big cat doccies; National Geographic working on epic Great Migrations mini-series.

National Geographic Wild (DStv 261) is working on several new big cat documentaries which might become a Big Cat Week or Big Cat Month on this National Geographic spin-off channel sometime in the coming months. Not to be outdone, National Geographic (DStv 260) is forging ahead with the biggest initiative in the brand's 120 year old history with the seven part Great Migrations that viewers will also get to see in a few months.

The Emmy award winning Botswana cinematography couple Dereck and Beverly Joubert filmed Big Cat Odyssey, which National Geographic Wild should broadcast within the upcoming few months in South Africa. Then there is the seven hour Great Migrations which the channel will be rolling out globally in 66 countries in a while and that will track animal migrations across the world.

Great Migrations, the biggest TV event in National Geographic's history, will look at the science behind animal migration in more than 20 countries, follow several species on their various harrowing journeys with spectacular footage.
